2.0 AIM AND OBJECTIVE
2.1 AIM
The aim of the GREENPEACE Engagement is to promote and develop the movement for our environmental impact.
2.2 OBJECTIVE
- To identify the steps of Greenpeace Engagement in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang
- To analyze the activities that suitable for the Greenpeace Engagement in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang
- To identify the method and roles of Greenpeace Engagement in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang
- To identify the advantages and benefits Greenpeace Engagement in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang
Kampung Padang Jawa is a traditional village located between 2 cities namely Klang City and Shah Alam City. The distance from Kampung Padang Jawa to Klang city is approximately 8 km and Shah Alam about 5 km. This village is very unique because it is under the 2 administration of districts, one under the administration of Klang District and the other under the administration of Petaling District. The boundary line between the two districts is located in the middle of the village. Kampung Padang Jawa is also unique as it has 3 access points to the village from Klang, Shah Alam and the Federal Highway. Kampung Padang Jawa is one of the oldest villages in Klang and Petaling District where it has been around since 1880.

According to Scanlon (2016),
there are 6 characteristics of urban villages community engagement based on New
London Villages community in London, England. These six characteristics has a
similarity of each other’s. There are a few factors in choosing Kampung Padang
Jawa as our Study Area.
- Small and intimate
The scale of the buildings and spaces is suitable and comfortable
- The Location
Kampung Padang Jaya is very strategic location that near to the Klang City
- Have a unique identity
Spatial identity-The area has its own atmosphere and sense of place
Traditions identity-There are regular community events and festivals
- Designed for social interaction
-There is green space, which is used in many ways
-Facilities are provided for community and everyday activities
- Locally driven and locally responsive
-Residents are involved in managing the life of the village
- A mixed community
-There is a mix of ages, backgrounds, incomes and housing tenures-Residents know and trust each other
4.0 PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
4.1 STAKEHOLDERS
Next, there are several stakeholders that will be involved in this community engagement. The stakeholder is consisting of a community groups in Klang, residents, local authorities, contractors, industry organizations, and environmental partners. Lastly, stakeholders can affect or be affected by the community’s actions, objectives, and policies. For our target participants in this GREENPEACE Engagement is community nearby, volunteers, and public participants.
4.3 METHOD OF GREENPEACE ENGAGEMENT
- Community Design Centre
Community design explains about providing local communities something help with knowledge, skills, and attitude. It based good technical, knowledge, analytical understanding of the systematic nature of the area to social justice. Community design is community development and design principles, practices, and method for community empowerment.
- Creates A Center That Collaborated With Local Authorities (MPK), Private Sponsors And Etc
Once partnerships are established with organized local communities, the group as a whole creates a collaborative process to understand the assets, challenges, changes, and other information about the neighborhood. These partnerships between communities and outsiders require a high degree of trust, shared values, open communication, and clear roles. Decisions made based upon the knowledge gathered by the entire group are made jointly. And ideally, this kind of community-led partnership becomes the status quo, so that those who are most affected by the changes at hand are recognized as representative leaders and decision-makers by the institutions allocating resources and making change.
- Monitoring and Responsiveness
Monitoring social networks and interacting with everyone. Engaging an online network to builds community help to participants in engagement of Kampung Jawa. Responsive acts as important supporter with respond all the question by local people or participants about issues, organization or anything related with the Greenpeace engagement.
- Social Sharing and Advertising to Support Greenpeace
Have a social community strategy platform with social networks which is community web such as promotion advertising in any social platform the website also employs sports, competition, and strong social networking strategies to encourage Facebook and Twitter networks' action and development.
- Engagement pathways integrated social, email and web to attract participants to have interest in Greenpeace
Targeting individual activity or person with sending via email. In this platform social media help to collaborated with the local community in the segmentation strategy by pointing signing petition or having donations support Greenpeace content. Such ideas are used in an email prior to this technique of communication and standardization, and the same email was sent to everybody on the list. Typically these email addresses would include numerous requests, such as signing petitions, donating, sharing the message etc.
- ORGANISE FOR PARTICIPATION
Ensure that the sponsor agency is committed and able to involved of the greenpeace engagement activites that provided.
- CELEBRATION IN THE COMMUNITY
For engagement activities, in the group may celebrate its incorporation day, or may have a community- based event in conjunction with a big holiday like Family Day or Community Days. Collaborate with the neighborhood organizations that plan these events as part of the day by incorporating of engagement activities.
- INTEGRATED PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE DECISION PROCESS
According to Community Engagement Approach(2018), the open meeting is also one of the the community engagement community activities which is a space for the the community environement tht can enable create a large of group to be self-directed that can create an environment dialogue which is divided into smaller goups to both get the open input and help each other in the community
- COMMUNITY ORGANISING
Community organising is the important in the greenpeace engagement activities because the project that contribute which is bring people together to solve a community issues.
- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Greenpeace activity engagement can doing a project which is project work sustainably to develop the regional economy. For examples, collabration with the company which is bringing the product that can attract the community at the area to contribute on the bussiness.
- The event is about Greenpeace engagement were to make community familiar with how to take care the environment.
- The activity of this program can reduce the pollution such as water pollution and air pollution.
- Also, develop behavior of community to be more sensitive on cleanliness which can make the place more comfortable and peaceful.
- Greenpeace engagement is to raise awareness to the public about the adverse effects of many human actions on the environment.
- From the campaign, can make the relationship of the community more closely with each other and also educate the community to take responsibility for environmental protection.
